Description

Fine ground red chillies of the finest quality distinguished by their brilliant red color and mild pungency. Chilli is a heating spice and comes in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and degrees of pungency. Chilli is America's most important contribution to the world of spices, though today it is one of India's major export attractions. Indian chilli is grown in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and a number of other States. The highly pungent 'Guntur' and the mildly pungent 'Byadgi' chillies are internationally recognised as the finest in quality. Usage: Chillies are used in Indian dishes for their hot taste and reddish colour. Red chilli ground together with coconut gives curry a firm texture. Chillies are a great source of vitamin C and good for digestion. Please note, the dates printed on the boxes are the manufacturing dates, not expiration. It's good 12 months from the date of manufacture.

Although the product was good, the price was almost double of what you pay in store.Update: Pretty sure I had covid, so disregard what I said about this spice being "spicy, but not in an aggressive way." No, no, it's SPICY. Still delicious though!I've been eating food from the freezer that I cooked eight weeks ago, back when I was sick with pneumonia and, DANG! I thought that stuff was mild, but, yeah, not so much! And I was feeding this stuff to my baby too...(Baby probably had covid, too - he had pneumonia at the same time.)Anyway - take my original review with a grain of salt, but I will say - I still am enjoying this chili powder! I'll just go a little lighter on it in the future :-)***Wow - so good!I decided I was going to try to learn how to cook Indian food, so I bought this (and other spices). So far that process is slow going...BUT the other day I was making an old family recipe for soup and realized I didn't have any aji chili paste. I tried a spoon of this, in a pinch, and - wow! So good! It's spicy in a really warm, pleasant way, and tastes... sweet, maybe? My favorite part is the type of spiciness. I've never tasted it before! It tastes mild and very spicy at the same time. Like, it's very spicy, but not in an aggressive way? This is going to be one of my go-tos from now on!I remember the package had a very distant sell-by date (I moved it to another container), and it smelled really fresh. The color is bright red, like powdered pigment.Very happy with it!Offered here is a package of 100 grams of very good Indian Kashmiri red chili pepper power. It is very finely ground, perfect for fine, smooth sauces -- "gravy" as they say in Indian cookery. The color is brilliant bright red. The flavor is complex and medium-intensity.The 100 grams come in a sealed Mylar bag inside of a cardboard box. This package is plenty protective for shipping. But, if you are planning to use it in small amounts, you'll want to transfer it to a glass jar with a tight lid. When I transferred mine, I did it in level tablespoonfuls. I weighed each spoonful. A level tablespoon of this stuff weights about 8.25-8.5 grams. 100g is about 12 level tablespoons.12 tablespoons is 3/4 cup. So, unless you are planning to use this all at once, you will want to have a jar with a tight-fitting lid having a capacity of 3/4C to one cup ready.BTW, mine was actually delivered to me in Oregon directly from India. We find the spiciness level appropriate for Kashmiri chilis, and the color is the beautiful vivid red we hoped for.Can heat be beautiful? Apparently so. This pepper is RED and gorgeous. Milder than cayenne. I put it on everything. This is an ingredient that was required for a recipe I cooked. I have never had the recipe (or this spice) before... But it was delicious!!!The color is so vibrant and the texture of the powder makes it a joy to combine with other ingredients. And then there's the taste! I have used Kashmiri Chili Powder with every savory dish I have made recently. I am a newbie in terms of cooking Indian food but I have loved it and Sri Lankan cooking for decades.
